Vibes: Hollywood Star, Michael Jai White, Crowned as Chief in Ghana


Michael Jai White is an American actor who has featured in multiple films along side Hollywood super stars like Jeane Claude Vandamme and a good number of others. Some of his popular films include: Undisputed, black dynamite, blood and bone, falcon rising and Spawn. Spawn, being the first film he acted in 1997 which portrayed him the eponymous character. He therefore, became the first African American to portray a major comic book superhero in a major comic picture. Also, through such promising role in Spawn, he was nominated for the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Best Male Newcomer.

As the search for identify and coming back to one's roots intensify, though a festival, it is reported by Critiqsite, an online platform that, over the weekend, White took to social media revealing an unexpected and inspiring updates about his personal life. He reveals that, during a trip to Ghana's "Full Circle Festival" hosted by his colleague, a Golywood actor, Boris Kodjoe(The current Akwamuhene, Paramount chief of the Akwamu state in Ghana) Jai White was honoured and enstooled along his wife as the 'King of Akwamu, and his wife Ohemaa(Queen) mother. 

He posted on his Instagram page as sited by Critiqsite "it was an incredible high honor to be enstooled (crowned) a king of Akwamu in Ghana. I am now a Ohene(King) with the tittle of Nana Akoto III Odopon 'The Tree with Strong Roots That Does Not Fear The Storm'. I was not expecting this as you can probably tell by the look on my face but I am truly proud to be a part of Akwamu of Ghana". 


In addition as Critiqsite reveals White added on his Instagram page "My wife @iamgillianwhite is now a Ohemaa (Queen) mother. It's fitting because we both had our DNA tests done and both of our African ancestry is primarily West African/Ghanian."

Appreciating the honor, Jai White added "I have come back home to the land my ancestors were taken from...and I will continue to represent and bring awareness to this beautiful land and rich culture.Awkabaa!" As Critiqsite posted.


In conclusion, the festival was to honor African heritage and legacy in regard to the transatlantic slave trade which begin 4centuries ago. Other celebrities present at the festival were: Idris Elba, Naomi Campbell, Ebro Darden, Nicole Ari Parker and Anthony Anderson.
