As we usually say, anyone who conceives any idea aimed at gathering people together to share and sell common ideas, should be out mostly encouraged. The world is gradually becoming a global village with a principle aim to drive our diverse ideas to a unique goal. This can only be understood when one or two persons sits together in harmony. The Hook Up Party organized by Masque Entertainment, is just a representation of such a global aim. At the head of the organizing team, a man simply called Multimedia, known to be a champion in leading similar initiatives, proved his worth. The party yesterday was one of the most reactive events in recent times. Now, let's spare the time and go straight to the crooks of the matter, what mudgage or hinder a total satisfaction of this party: pros and cons.
The pros:
Generally, it was an avenue where people gathered harmoniously, to be entertained, chat new businesses and collaborate. It was indeed, successful at this direction before whatsoever thing that happened.
The openness, easy accessibility and the neutrality of the location to this event, was an extra point to the organizing team of this event. Attendees could easily locate the venue, at Hotel Poliva, besides Lycée Biyem-Massi. I believe this is actually the reason for the massive turn out.
The size of the hall and the comfortability of it was satisfactory to the attendees. The organizers proved their experience by choosing such a neutral and comfortable location. The hall took up to 5hundred people and still, was all flooded and people lacked chairs to sit. The hall was indeed, very classic and clean.
The experience of the DJ/mc, Aweh Mark Vow, who is one of the wildest, prolific and best cultural promoter and mc around the country, CEO of the Master Planner Movement, who adores every little arts work coming from within, played only Cameroonian hits. As a sign of respect to the legends in the music industry who have lived and their songs keep inspiring the younger generation, he started with old timers before subsiquently getting into the recent trend, Afro and Afro pop. This is respect to Cameroon arts.
There were little chewables especially to those on the high tables to keep them flexing up as the show started. This worth appreciating.
The major actor at the head of the Organizing committee, Multimedia, was very active from start to end. I admire him moving up and down the hall, ensuring that everything was moving accordingly. He kept directing people to their seats, making sure that everyone was comfortable. Every invitee, received their maximum respect. Boss, Multimedia, I give you 99% on this prove of experience you showed yesterday.
Invited artists were kept in a particular high table, giving them special identification and recognition at the hall. No matter how the situation may have turned out and most of them didn't performed, at list their presence was highly recognized.
The performance to most artists, was an award competition(The Hook up upcoming artists challenge). The award to the best performance, particularly to the artists in this category, was a total production of a song by Masque Entertainment to the artist, done by I.V.O, Mahloox producer, and the producer behind Blanche Bailly's recent song, "L'argents". I.V.O was there present and confirmed this.
The spectacular artists finally showed up contrary to what most people believed, that such artists are always put on flyers to pull crowd. Mel B showed up at 11:05pm and actually watch other emerging performes, while Tzy Panchack showed up at 1:10 pm. Respect to Mel B who spent close to 3hrs before putting up and enticing performance and Panchak who spent 2hours, but didn't graced the stage.
Though the show ended in a fiasco, some invitees were very happy to have met their 'die heart' established artists(Mel B and Tzy Penchak) and they learned a lot from the show.
Though with the unfortunate situation that happened at the end of the show, some artists keep their dreams high like promising to keep showing up in shows no matter how they may end up. Respect particularly to Daddy Black who rejected performing because, people who left far away locations didn't performed (His statement)
Some artists were still taken to the After party at Wins Shop, where the second face of the show took place. It was still indeed, much respect to the artists.
The cons:
After watching this show from the beginning, one could've immediately scored the organizing team 99%, seeing such traffic and how classic the hall was. Unfortunately, the situation turned sour when the hall became empty after the exit of Panchak at 3am in the morning, without performing. After this incident, fingers were pointed at each other for being responsible.
The spectacular Afro pop vocalist from Blue Nation Label, who made a historic entery into the hall, looking very simple, classic, and sexy, left the hall at about few minutes pass 3am after spending two hours without performing, when Mel B had earlier left immediately after her performance to the second face of the show at the Wins Shop. As people waited for Panchak to grace the stage thereafter, the mc, the dreaded Aweh Mark Vow, kept introducing other artists. This provoked the crowd to start exiting the hall one by one. Tzy Panchak who had earlier wanted to perform, got angry and left the hall as well. As he left, everyone followed and that was the end of the show. Actually, the keeping of Panchak as a strategy to keep the hall full till the end, proved rather fruitless. The first cause was Mel B that left the hall.
I have listened from the organizing team lead by the most determine Multimedia. I have equally listened from the attendees, artists who performed, those who didn't performed, including the team controlling the sound system lead by the DJ/mc, Aweh Mark Vow. These components of the system that made up the Hook Up Party show, have their own directions of blame and I believe, that of the Organizing team and the mc is the center of focus.
As earlier mentioned, Multimedia, head of the Organizing committee of Masque Entertainment, has been organizing shows of this magnitude and at the end, there is always a query. But contrary, his events are always classic and pulling a massive crowd as some attendees claim. Though I haven't known much about Multimedia Masque Entertainment events, but base only on my little research. In the other hand, Aweh Mark Vow has been organizing same magnitudes of events bringing in high level of supper stars under the canopy of the Master Planner Movement with it little queries at the end as well
Listening from Mark Vow, CEO of the unique Master Planner Movement and from Multimedia, CEO of unique Masque Entertainment, all I can say is that, there was a problem of expertise. When one party proposes, another deposes. This is just my exclusive analysis.
The time given to an artists on stage was too lengthy and also, the mc taking much time to introduce the next artist. In this regard denotatively, the mc, Aweh Mark Vow will be blamed as well as connotatively, he may not be blamed. One will simply say, in any event, there is always the head of the managing team that oversee the smooth functioning of event. That's exactly what Multimedia was doing from start to end at the show, but he seemed to be doing all these a lone while limited to giving Aweh Mark Vow instructions, as Mark is a boss and knows to handle such things, whereas, Mark Vow also claim to be working only according to MULTIMEDIA'S instructions.
In such a high level occasion, time consciousness should always be the first pre occupation of both the organizer and his mc. If anything is not moving as planned, the organizer or head of his managing team should immediately alert the mc and corrections should be done immediately. An artist will spent more than 1-30seconds on stage only introducing themselves and a comedian spent more than 20minutes on stage?
And to artists who had payed for the competition and didn't perform, got very angry while accusing the organizer and demanding for their money to be refunded. Most noted that, majority of artists that performed were not even found on flyers, a claim I also shared. Actually, it's aching to pull a crew to come cheer you up in an event, but ended up not performing. They hold the right to their accusations.
What of those who came from the West Region, Litoral and South West. I came across a guy who left Buea only for the show but didn't performed. Whereas, after getting to the organizer, he told me there was a list artists drafted during the day to perform in order.
The event started very late though there was power failure. It was to start at 8pm and finished at 1am, but because of the mix up, the show ended at 3am with the exit of Panchak. Also, the sound quality was poor, it spoiled some artists nice songs.
Note:
The organizer Hoop Up Party, Multimedia, has just alerted us that, due to the incident that happened yesterday and the winner of the competition wasn't known, he is inviting all the artists present in the competition, to show up on Wednesday at the #WinShop Biyem-Massi.
Meanwhile, The The Master Night Gold, organized by The Master Planner Movement and the Wosoh Entertainment, is coming up on the 31th of this month at Fresh Plannet Carrefour Obili. Big G Baba will be present at the show. Show up at the event and let's keep partying.
