The Zangelawa song that was released by members of the Cameroon presidential guards in 1987 became an anthem all over Africa and several parts of the world, through out the late 80's and 90's.
Morethan 20 covers of the song have been made by different artists and musical groups all over Africa. And till date, military bands, students and athletes are still using the song as a matching song in several countries in Africa and beyond
The picture below was taken during their performance in Zambia in 1992, when the Zangelawa group was invited by President federick Chiluba.
The Zangelawa song was brought back to the world stage when the famous Latin American singer Shakira, copied the chorus and made the hit song 'waka waka', that was used for the FIFA world cup in 2010.
Emile kojidie, Eugene Victor, Dooh Belly, Jean Paul Ze Bella, are the founding members of the group which started with the name 'Golden Sounds'. The name was later change to 'Zangelawa' due to the massive success of the song 'Zangelawa'.
The soldiers toured several parts of Europe and Africa in the 90's and thrilled crowds with their comical outfits and dance style.
