The sweet mother Anthem

Following the outbreak of a civil war in Nigeria in 1967, Prince Nico Mbarga who was born of a Cameroonian 🇨🇲 father and Nigerian mother returned back to his home (Cameroon).

He spent 5years in Cameroon 🇨🇲 sharpening his musical skills by playing several instruments in a school band and soaked  himself into the deep waters of Cameroon music.

He went back to Nigeria in 1972 and created the musical band 'Rocafil Jazz' that was focused  on entertaining guests and music fans in Plaza Hotel in Onitsha at the time.

The 'Sweet Mother' song traveled all over Africa and topped  music  platforms  in many countries.

The song has also been covered by several artists in different African countries.
And till date, it remains one of the most popular African song that celebrates the love of a mother.

The memories of me Vibing to this song as a little boy in the early 90's,  from my fathers record player is still very fresh.
I can still remember the dance steps of our parents and the smile on their faces when savoring 'Sweet Mother'.

Prince Nico Mbarga who died in June 24, 1997 will always be remembered as one of those who played an important role in the evolution of African Music.
